The game begins with Harry waking up after an accident, only to find that his daughter Cheryl is not in the car with him. He gets out of the car to try and find her. "Cheryl, where could you be? It's strange. It's quiet. Too quiet.This place is like a ghost town. Cheryl." Walk forward into the mist. If you find yourself near a rock structure, then go the opposite way. It's easy to get turned around at first in the mist. When you've gone far enough the right way (only a few steps from your starting point) then it will trigger the next event. "Footsteps?" A movie will play which will show a girl standing in the mist. "Cheryl? Is that Cheryl?" She begins running through the mist. "Where are you going? Stop! Wait!" Follow the figure down the alley and through the gate at the end. Run past the strange splatter on the ground and into the alleyway. Continue down the alleyway until you reach a gate. Enter the gate. Enter the gate and it begins to get dark. "That's strange, it's getting darker." Harry lights a flare to see with. "...Better than nothing, I guess." Follow the path through its many turns. Pass the hospital bed and find crucified corpse. "What's this? What's going on here?" At this point small zombies come at you and begin hacking away with knives. Even if you can get back to the entrance, you won't be able to leave until they gang up and kill you. You wake up in a diner with a cop. cop: How do you feel? Harry: Like I've been run over by a truck, but I'm alright, I guess. c: Glad to hear it. You from around here? Why don't you tell me what happened. H: You got me. I came here for a vacation. I just got here. I don't know what happened. I'd like to find out myself. C: Uh-huh. H: Have you seen a little girl? Just turned seven last month. Short, black hair? My daughter. C: Sorry. The only person I've seen in this town is you. H: Where is everybody? C: I'd tell you if I knew, believe me. But, from what I can tell, something bizarre is going on. That's all I know. What's you name? H: Harry. Harry Mason. C: Cybil Bennett. I'm a police officer from Brahms, the next town over. The phones are all dead, and the radio, too. I'm going to call in some reinforcements. H: I see. [He gets up to leave] C: Where do you think you're going? H: To find my daughter. C: Nope, no way. It's dangerous. H: In that case, I need to find her now! Cheryl's my little girl. I just can't leave her out here by herself. C: Have you got a gun? H: No. C: Take this. And hope you don't have to use it. Now listen to me: before you pull the trigger, know who you're shooting. Don't do it unless you have to. And don't shoot me by mistake. Got it? H: Yeah. Thanks. C: You'd do best to stay nearby. I'll be back with help as quick as I can. She leaves and Harry can explore. Get the knife, two health drinks, flashlight and the map from the counter. Look at the radio. Attempt to exit the diner. The radio begins to whine with feedback. As Harry walks towards it, something smashes against the door. "What? What's going on with that radio?" Go over to the radio. Something smashes the door and then through the window. Shoot the flying creature about four times to kill it (depending on which difficulty setting you have the game on). Leave the cafe. When you exit, Harry will decide to go to the Alleyway where he last saw Cheryl. The game marks it on the map. Head to the alleyway. When you get into the alley, collect the pages from Cheryl's sketchbook. The note says "to school". Head down to Matheson Street (and check the map for information on where bullets and health drinks are located around this part of the town). The papers will tell you to search the doghouse on Levin Street. Watch out for the dos (rather simple to dodge) and get the key from the doghouse. Enter the house. Examine the map by the back door to find the different locations of the keys you need to unlock the back door. Collect the first key from the police cruiser at the end of Finney Street. Follow the alleyway between Bachman and Ellroy to get the second key. Head down Ellroy and get the last key from the mailbox across the ravine. Return to the house and unlock the three locks. Head through the back yard and to the school. General Note: Take out the Zombie Brats with your crowbar. It's easy and you'll have a lot of bullets left over to use throughout the game this way. From the entrance, head left to the secretary's office. Read the notes inside the office. Note 1: 10:00 "Alchemy Laboratory" Gold in an old man's palm. The future hidden in his fist. Change for sage's salt water. Note 2: 12:00 "A place with songs and sounds" A silver guidepost lulls you to sleep in a forgotten tongue. Awakening at the appointed time. Leave the office and run down the hallway past the school's entrance. Continue through the double doors. Kill the first Zombie Brat with four shots of your gun (to knock him down) and then a swift kick. Follow the hallways and take out the next Zombie Brat the same way. Enter the third door or the right door at the end of the hall (the only one you can enter). Inside the classroom, get the two First Aid Kits and the box of Handgun Bullets. Exit the room and head back down the hall. Now it's time for the second floor. At the top of the stairs you will be accosted by two cockroaches. Shoot them once and then stomp them. This is harder than it seems since Harry wants to keep his gun homed in on the hurt one. Run to the end of the hall and take the door to your right. It leads to another hall. Kill the Zombie Brat and enter the last door to your left. This is the chemistry supply room. Go to the back wall and find the bottle sitting alone on the shelf. Get it. It's sulfuric acid, and you're going to need it in a second. Exit the room and enter the one right next to it. If you run behind the counter, there are some Handgun bullets for you. Go to the chemistry table in the middle of the room and look at the stone hand. Use the Lab Chemical on the hand. It will eat away the stone. If you search the rubble, you will get a gold medallion. Kill the two Zombie Brats when you exit the room and head back downstairs. Go through the double doors to the main hallway. Kill the Zombie Brat near the doors to the courtyard. Enter the courtyard. Sometimes there are two Zombie Brats in the courtyard and sometimes three. Kill them all. Go to the clock tower and look at the plate on the left. It says "A Golden Sun." Use the Gold Medallion on the plate. Head back upstairs. If you are running low on ammunition, then you can enter the first room to your right to get some handgun bullets. Enter the double doors near the stairs. Enter the last room to your left. You are now in the piano room. Read the sheet music on the blackboard. The bloody music sheet reads: "A tales of notes lost birds" "First flew a hasty pelican, rushing for the reward." (D) "Next flew a dandy stork, eager to show he could fly higher than the pelican." (B) "I forget who came next, but she only flew a half-flap overhead the stork." (A#) "Then one came next to the dandy," (G) "just left of him." (C#) This puzzle may seem a bit difficult at first, but the picture below should make the logic behind the puzzle apparent. The clock will release a Silver Medallion. Pick it up and head back to the clock, killing Zombie Brats all the way. Use it in the right plate of the clock, and the door will open. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The maps below are for the alternate elementary school. Doors with arrows indicate that you can pass through them. Doors with squiggles indicate locked or blocked doors. Question Marks indicate clues. K stands for First Aid Kit. B stands for bullets. L stands for the Lobby Key. Head inside the clock, down the ladder, across the creepy room, and up another ladder. Exit the clock to find yourself in an alternate courtyard. Walk forward and Harry will notice a strange symbol in the stonework. Enter the school. Now you get to see the dark side of the elementary grades. Kill the two Zombie Brats, and enter the double doors across from where you entered the school. Pick up the first aid kit and handgun bullets. Exit the doors. Turn right and enter the far hall. There will be three cockroaches to kill here. There is a box of hangun bullets at the far end of the hall. Run back and climb the stairs. Go to the end of the hall and enter the door to your right. There are some handgun bullets on a desk and some Zombie Brats in this room. At the back of the room is the door you need to go through (simple after grabbing the bullets and making a run for it so as not to waste ammunition). Fight your way through the next room (4 Zombie Brats; run around most of them or they'll corner you) and exit through the back door. Don't worry about killing the cockroaches in this hallway. Just run through the double doors in front of you. Kill the 4 cockroaches or run by them. At the end of this hall you'll find the weird room with the locked filing cabinet. Enter it and open the cabinet. It's empty, but when you attempt to leave the room a body falls from another locker. Take the Lobby Key from the body and leave the room. Exit the double doors to your right. Kill the Zombie Brats and cockroaches. Get the First Aid Kit at the end of the hall. Then, go down the stairs (also, notice the meat hanging in the stairwell going up). Kill another Zombie Brat, sand go through the double doors.
